Nigerian singer and Songwriter, Davido Adedeji Adeleke, professionally known as Davido, has announced the donation of N237m to 424 orphanages across Nigeria through his Foundation.
Recall in November 2021, the singer challenged his colleagues to contribute N1 million each for him, it suddenly turned out to be one of the biggest fundraisers in recent times as Davido accumulated N200 million within 78 hours.
Davido, who had initially wanted to use the funds to clear his brand new Rolls Royce from the Lagos port, decided to give the money to orphanages across the country; thus, a five-person committee was formed chaired by Titi Adebayo.
Davido announced this on his official twitter handle, he tweeted; “I’ve always wanted to use my platform to serve others. Thankful that through your generosity, I’ve been able to do so.
“We recently disbursed over N200m to several orphanages in Nigeria, a tradition that started a few years ago around my birthday.
“Thank you to everyone who donated. With your help, we are changing lives.
“This is what I mean when I say we rise by lifting others. These are words in action. God bless you all!”
